RECAP: Kipp Caddy's Desenstised Film Premiere
Saturday night, Fatboy HQ transformed into something pretty special — the launch party for our mate and ambassador Kipp Caddy’s debut film Desensitised. Presented by Rip Curl, the premiere pulled in a full house of mates, fans, and surf frothers ready to watch a story that’s been a decade in the making.
Desensitised isn’t just a surf flick — it’s a raw, documentary-style look at Kipp’s evolution from a fearless 13-year-old frothing on heavy waves, to one of Australia’s most dialled-in big-wave surfers. Set across three iconic Aussie breaks that helped shape his career — including the legendary Shipstern Bluff — the film tracks his early days watching 20-foot sets from the ski, to now being the guy chasing them down.
It’s a tribute to ten years of commitment, wipeouts, breakthroughs, and that constant pull to see what’s possible when you stop playing it safe. From dodging the paddle-in rule at Shippies to carving out his own lane in the world of big-wave surfing, Kipp’s story hits hard — and the crowd at HQ felt every moment of it.
Huge thanks to everyone who came through, and to Kipp for sharing such a personal, powerful piece of his journey.
